I have a suggestion for a future film. Although I have never seen this film myself, the previews seem interesting. It is called “God in the Box”. I think the film talks about different ways to understand God without favoring any particular religion.
Reba, thank you for suggesting “God in the Box”. That looks very interesting, informative, and relevant to current issues in our society. I’ve added it to our list of films, and will likely show it sometime in the near future. Thanks again for kicking off our audience-submitted suggestions! 🙂
I would like to suggest Girl Rising and Beyond the Gates. Awakening and empowering.
Thank you Brenda. “Girl Rising” looks great; I will definitely try to get that one! I will also look into “Beyond The Gates”. Thank you for the great suggestions!
Excellent…God Grew Tired of Us looks like another amazing documentary!
I would like to suggest: “Living The Good Life In America”. Thank You!
Sorry, that should be “Seeking The Good Life In America” DOH!!!
Ron, thank you for the excellent suggestion! It just so happens that I already have a copy of “Seeking the Good Life In America” and have arranged to show it at some point. I’m waiting until we build a larger regular audience at Compact Cinema, as I want a lot of people to see this film, so I don’t have an exact date yet.
Fed Up is a new documentary on the food and exercise. The movie’s description: “Everything we’ve been told about food and exercise for the past 30 years is dead wrong. FED UP is the film the food industry doesn’t want you to see. From Katie Couric, Laurie David (Oscar winning producer of AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH) and director Stephanie Soechtig, FED UP will change the way you eat forever.” I contacted Fed Up on screening information for my school, and received this information, “Thanks for your interest in Fed Up! If you are looking to host a screening of 15 people or less you are not required to obtain a public screening license. Please RSVP for our National House Party on September 22nd. If you are interested in setting up a larger screening, please fill out this screening request form. Once received, someone from our team will reach back out with information on the screening license and next steps.” The email contact was emma@picturemotion.com. I would love to see this feel screened locally.
Thank you Jacqueline, I watched the trailer and it looks good. I’ll look into the details about showing it at Compact Cinema, perhaps even on September 22nd if possible.
Ben, check out The Overnighters: http://filmguide.sundance.org/film/13888/the_overnighters
I would love to see this film, about what happens to a rural North Dakota community when fracking turns it into a modern “boomtown.”
Angela, this film looks really interesting, and will be a great addition to a film series about fracking and pipelines that will be shown soon at the cinema. Thank you for letting me know about this film! 🙂
I’d like to see “The Mask You Live In” – a movie about how men are indoctrinated into a shadowy version of patriarchy via our culture and the media: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hc45-ptHMxo
They also have a movie called “Miss Representation”, a similar film about women in our culture, how the media has kept women from stepping into their power: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S5pM1fW6hNs
Kim
Thank you Kim, these films look great! We’ll look into getting them.
